Our community has achieved
many successes based on our community goals setting efforts.
Some of our achievements have included:
New housing: When
Mead realized that we needed to grow large enough to maintain our K
- 12 school system, the community members banded together and
developed a strategy. Today, Mead has more than 20 new places
to live that we had when we had started this process in 1994.
In fact, community members were so sure that others would like to
live in Mead, they formed the Mead
Development Corporation which developed a total of 18 new home
lots. Local business people also joined the effort and 3 new
small apartment buildings were built.
Promote Mead:
Community members work to promote activities. We have
participated in several award programs and have been on-line since
the early days of the internet. Newspaper articles, an
occasional television news story and even a visit from an Australian
television crew, LandLine
has helped tell the world that Mead, Nebraska is a great place to
live and work.
Planning Our Future: Mead has an up to
date comprehensive plan and works hard to plan our future needs with
the recent completion of an updated housing study.
Fun in Mead: But Mead isn't
without fun! The Mead Ball Association lead the way in the creation
of a new ball diamond at our local park. Weight room at the
high school is available to all community members for a small annual
membership fee. And even the youth saw the need to roll up
their sleeves and help fundraise for the creation of a basketball
court.
