Fire and Rescue
Mead's fire and rescue squads are our first
line defense in times of distress. Many volunteers man the
hoses and help administer first aid. Contact the fire chief or
rescue captain if you live in the community and would like to serve
as a volunteer.

Seasonal safety information - Storm Warning Procedures
The Wahoo Sheriff's office
activates fireman's pagers when a severe weather watch is in effect.
Additionally, the fire siren will sound to alert the department to
be on the watch for dangerous weather conditions. If a funnel
is actually spotted, the fire department will blow a steady siren
blast. Take cover!
For residents and businesses with a basement or storm shelter,
the Alma Lutheran Church basement will be available at the corner of
5th and Elm Streets.
