Mead Library News for Feb 2004

Hours: Mon: 2 pm-7 pm Thurs: 9:30-11:30 am (Story Hour 9:30-10:30 am) and 2-7 pm Sat: 9 am-noon

Story Hour: Story Hour was cancelled for two weeks because of my surgery and weather. On the 12th, the roads were icy but we didn't cancel Story Hour. We will exchange valentines if the children have some to bring.

Income Tax Forms: The Library has a supply of the most common income tax forms - State and Federal.

Book Club: We will meet again on March 1. Readers will discuss the novel by Tom Clancy - "Teeth of the Tiger".

Winter Weather: The snow can stop anytime but it is pretty to look at if you don't have to shovel. Jack Frost can transform a "weed" into a thing of beauty, especially if a cardinal is sitting in a tree or bush.

Foundation: The first meeting to establish a Mead Library Foundation will be on March 15 at 7:00 pm. If you are interested, please call if you can attend. We do not anticipate many meetings will be necessary to get this foundation active.

New Books: New fiction and non-fiction books have been ordered and will arrive soon. As always, donated books are welcome.

Fine Policy: An updated fine policy is attached that will go into effect on March 1, 2004.

FINE POLICY

This policy goes into effect March 1, 2004

A fine of (10) cents per day will be charged for all overdue materials checked out from the Mead Public Library counting only the days the library is open. Any materials returned on Saturday will be exempt from fines. After two notices (written or by telephone), library privileges may be suspended if materials have not been returned, fines have accumulated to $5.00 or the library has not been reimbursed for these materials. A surcharge of $1.00 will be added after the second notice.

The Mead Public Library is a member of the Saunders County Library Cooperative and the six county libraries share patron records. A notice that has been sent to a patron suspending privileges in one library will also apply to the other five libraries.

VIDEO AND DVD POLICY

The above fine policy will be applied to Videos and DVDs.

Additional fines will be assessed for the following infractions.

1. Video not rewound - $1.00 fine

2. Videos not in the correct case - $1.00 fine

3. Video case has been damaged or cards torn off - $1.00 fine

4. DVD's not in the correct case - $1.00 fine
