Rent Control in Defense AreaThe area surrounding the Nebraska Ordnance Plant has been qualified for rent stabilization by the national Production Authority. District NPA Manager Marvin Hixs said the area consists of all Saunders County and townships of Cotterell, Elkhorn, maple, Nickerson, Platte and Union, including the Village of Nickerson and the City of Fremont in Dodge County. Mr. Hicks said the area previously had been certified a critical defense housing area. He said a large influx of workers was expected at the Nebraska Ordnance Plant by September and housing accommodations are "insufficient." Mr. Hicks said the area is now under rent control.
