Meet Mr. Cross Who is Happy NOP morale is typified in Melvin Cross, a dump truck driver, and just about the happiest many you'll ever see. There's no particular reason for NOP News singling out Melvin, except he has one of the biggest, most toothless smiles we'ver seen. Melvin lost his two front upper teeth in a ball game with a sister and some neighbor women. One of them his a foul ball that landed in Melvin's face, knocking out one tooth and loosening the other so that it had to be pulled. But it takes more than the loss of a couple of teeth to jar the good natured dump truck driver from Wahoo, whose massive frame and weight make him resemble a TV "rassler". Nathional prominence, however, has escaped Melvin. We do believe, though, advertising promotoers overlooked a surefire "natural" when they failed to put a photo fo Melvin's smile on sheet music of the ditty ... "all I want is my tow front teeth." Melvin would rumble with laughter at the suggestion. he likes his NOP job as a dump truck driver in Engineering Department. Melvin likes corn on the cob, too, but since that tooth extracting ball game years ago he hasn't eaten any.
