Nebraska Ordnance Plant NewsFriday July 25, 1952 Mead > History > NOP > Newspapers WANTA JOIN PRETTY PARTY CAUCUS? Keeping slim and trim is the
campaign objective of three female clerical personnel convening daily in
the Cafeteria to dine. They don't eat to pacify delicate feminine
appetites or to "fill-up" - they just eat to keep slim and trim,
so they say.
The only plank in their
platform - which they support unanimously - is salads. All kinds of
them.
"I eat'em," said
Mildred Skillman, a natural redhead.
"Me, too," agreed
Alma Jensen, a natural blonde.
"Salads are my
choice," affirmed black-haired Wanda Rice.
Salads and statistics go hand
in hand, according to the young women. If statistics lie, salads
never do. Miss Skillman, weighs 112 lbs. and is 5 feet 4 inches;
Mrs. Jensen, 126, 5 feet 6; and Mis Rice, 112, 5 feet 6 1/2. The
"statistics," is may be added, are distributed adequately.
The young women aren't choosy
about their salads. "I like them all," said Mis Rice,
"especially combination."
Lettuce is my
preference," said Miss Skillman.
Mrs. Jensen goes for a
combination.
Campaign expenses on the
Figure Ticket run about 50 cents a mela. Salads are supplemented with hot
rolls (sans butter), iced tea, and occasionally, a sandwich. Pie,
though tempting, gets no votes from the triumvirate.
And what do they think of
women's suffrage?
Reply: "They should have
stuck with salads!" |
